ACADEMIC INFORMATIONS:

-
- Class: 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and the sociocultural activities run from 13:30 to 16:30 p.m. everyday. Some night activities may occur (usually optional) but most nights are free.
- The number of students will never exceed 18 persons per class.
- Students will live on campus, in the university apartments or with a host family.
- What happens if I fail my Placement test?
- It’s not possible to fail a placement test. This test is used to evaluate your knowledge of French and to place you in a group of students that are at the same level of knowledge as you are.
- It’s important to take the test ALONE in a quiet environment, otherwise, you will be placed in the wrong class for the whole program. It will impact negatively your learning experience.
- Remember that cheating on a placement test is cheating on yourself.
- Is it possible to ask for a credit transfer to my university?
- Yes, you can ask for credit transfer at the end of the program.
- The program offers 7 credits. However, you have to be aware that your university may recognize more or less than 7. Each university has its own protocol. The transcript to be official needs to be sent to our university to your university. The cost of the transcript is $7. You may ask for your transcript 2 weeks after the program has ended (it’s only at this time that the notes will be put in the system). The transfer of the credits are not mandotary.
- No, you won’t be able to have the course syllabus before the program, even if you have already done your placement test. We need a global picture before the program in order to decide which level to offer. In order to obtain that picture, we need to wait until all students have done the placement test. Few days prior the start of the program, the teacher will contact you and you will receive the syllabus by email. But you can find the outlines here: https://www.uqac.ca/programme/9983-programme-court-dapprentissage-du-francais-ecrit-et-parle/
- My university will credit the Explore program courses only if I am at an intermediate or an advance level. Can I choose my class?
No. Even if you are at an advanced level in your university, it is possible that you will be placed in an intermediate or a lower-level class. An immersion program is different than a regular university French class.
- I need to work my writing skills; will I be able to do that during the Explore program?
We always work on all 4 skills (oral and writing expression and oral and writing comprehension). But, in the Explore program context, we work mostly the oral skills.
- I have a learning disability or a health issue, may I receive some accommodations?
Yes of course! Contact us so we can do something for you. You will need your medical diagnostic and prescription or the accommodation letter from your university. It is mandatory that we receive all the information and documentation before the start of the program. Everything will be treated with confidentiality. Send your documents to this email: fc_explore_responsable_programmes@uqac.ca. Someone will contact you.
- When can I arrive and where will I sleep?
- Spring session dates: Monday, May 12 to Friday, June 13.
- The arrival date is Sunday, May 11 (no time frame). If you plan to arrive earlier, you must make arrangement with the university residence at residences@uqac.ca, or directly with your host family.
- The departure date can be Friday, June 13 (either after the final exam which ends at noon, or after the gala ceremony which ends around 4:00 pm) or you can also leave on Saturday, June 14. It is recommended that you attend the gala, as this is your time.
- Note, the 3-week program ends on May 30, so you can leave on May 31.
-

Object: Test de classement | Placement test 2025
Bonjour,
English will follow
Bonne chance!
Click on the following link http://www.uqac.ca/fc-docs/ATT/Test/Test.pdf for the French placement test procedure. The placement test must be taken before you start at the École de langue française. Please complete the test as quickly as possible. Deadline , 2025.
The test takes one hour. Audio equipment is necessary to do the test (headphones or speakers). You must follow all steps of the procedure. We recommend that you print it or have it nearby.
This is a placement test, not an exam. This test must reflect your real knowledge of French. Your result will help us to assign you the class that best meets your needs. Therefore, the use of a dictionary or grammar is not recommended.
The email address required for logging into the test is the one you provided when registering to the École de langue française in lower-case: your email
Link to access the placement test: http://moodle.uqac.ca
The email address required for logging is the same as the email you just received and all in lower-case. You put your email in both boxes.

Good luck! 🙂
Bonjour,
Here is the procedure to be able to use STS bikes with your bus pass that you can use when you will be with us. https://sts.saguenay.ca/infos-pratiques/acces-velo
You can start now, so you will have it once you arrive.
For those of you who wish to use the electric bikes, you must contact Nancy Lalancette at 418-545-3683, ext. 6400. If there is no answer, you can leave a message on her voicemail, and she will contact you as soon as she returns to the office. Once you are in contact with Nancy, you need to give her this number | (your number sent by email) | with that number she has all the information already on file, the only thing missing is the name on the credit card, number, expiration date and the 3 digits number of verifications. Please be aware that Nancy doesn’t speak very well English, so please talk slowly . You will have access to your bus pass and bikes until Deadline date
You absolutely must have a credit card on file to be able to use the bikes (for the bus no need, the bus is free with your bus card).
Accepted credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, JCB, PayPal, Visa Click to Pay, Apple Pay and eCheck
SUBSCRIPTION – PREFERENTIAL RATES ACCÈS LIBRE CLIENT (UQAC students)
If the client is a UQAC student, his or her subscription is free, and he or she benefits from a reduced rate on additional minutes. They can use the service free of charge for trips of 45 minutes or less.
Additional fees (for trips longer than 45 minutes):
0-45 minutes FREE
46-60 min + $1.00
60 – 75 min + $1.00
75-90 min + $1.00
90 min and more + $3.00 / 15 minutes
https://sts.saguenay.ca/files/abonnement_pra_fa_rentiel.pdf
A little trick. Once you finish your free 45 minutes ride and return your bike to the proper locations, you can use another bike for another 45 minutes free. You can do this as many times as you like. But important, you must change bikes every 45 minutes though
It’s king of a bug in the system
Helmets and locks are not included with bikes.
Hope you enjoy!

See you soon!
Bonjour,
